
Yes, a lease can automatically renew in New Hampshire. Most leases will include some form of automatic renewal clause that states the procedure for renewing a lease.
In some cases, this may renew the lease for the same term as the original lease. Sometimes the lease may become a month-to-month lease. If there is no automatic renewal in the lease, the landlord must give notice and obtain the landlord’s approval in order to stay on the property.
Month-to-month tenancies can be terminated by either party with 30 days’ notice (NH Rev Stat § 540:11 (2019)).
