Can a Tenant Change the Locks in Utah?

A Utah tenant may request that their landlord change their locks if they provide documentation that they have recently been a victim of a crime, including domestic abuse, stalking, or burglary. Any lock changes made under these provisions come at the tenant’s expense, however. Outside these circumstances, though, a Utah tenant may request a lock change on a one-off basis, but their landlord is not legally obliged to honor that request.
