How Much Can a Landlord Charge for a Security Deposit in Michigan?

The maximum security deposit a landlord can charge in Michigan is one and one-half (1 ½) months’ rent. Note, however, that this does not include “option-money” for leases that come with an option to purchase or membership fees in cooperatives or housing associations.
