
The maximum length of a standard residential lease agreement is one (1) year in Oklahoma. It is possible to have a longer lease, but all leases for a duration of one year or longer need to be in writing.
Verbal or oral leases are enforceable for periods shorter than one year. However, it is highly recommended to put all leases in writing. If the exact terms of the lease aren’t put down in writing, it becomes more difficult to prove what was agreed upon.
