What Happens If a Landlord Does Not Return the Security Deposit in Delaware?

If a landlord in Delaware does not return the security deposit within 20 days from the move out date, the landlord loses the right to make any deductions and may be liable for a penalty of double the amount withheld.

The tenant has 1 year from the end of the lease to claim the security deposit otherwise the same will be forfeited in favor of the landlord.
